Queen Charlotte City at a Glance
Queen Charlotte City is located on the northern part of the Queen Charlotte Islands
and is surrounded by natural beauty. Near the southern arm of Alaska,
the Queen Charlottle Islands are home to an abundance of wildlife and aboriginal
culture. Access is often by ferry, with the terminal in Prince
Rupert offering daily voyages to the island. The island is a popular spot
for both wildlife viewing and eco-tourism. Nearby Naikon
Provincial Park is a perfect spot to explore the rainforest, photograph wildlife
or enjoy a quiet walk along the sandy beach. The strong Haida culture of the region
is also evident throughout Queen Charlotte City, with local folk stories often
shared over a cup of warm coffee in one of the town's local diners. This quaint
town of 1200 people also offers unique giftshops and an array of recreational
opportunities on the water, including fishing and kayaking.
